LED Illuminated Signs
Lighting and illumination of your signage can really bring it to life and make it ‘work’ for you 24/7.
Gone are the days when expensive and power sapping fluorescent tubes and cold cathode neon were the main choice for sign illumination. The advances in LED technology has created a reliable and vibrant option with flashing, colour changing and neon effects all readily available. The low power consumption and far greater life span of LED lamps makes them the default lighting method for all McRobb signs.
Used as a lighting effect to really help your signage stand out from the crowd, halo illumination works by placing the LED modules internally, in a particular fashion to throw light out of the back of a built up letter, usually through an opal or coloured acrylic to give a halo effect round the edge.
The back-tray for halo illuminated letters and signage is usually made from opal/coloured/clear acrylic or polycarbonate depending on the desired effect. Coloured LED's such as Red, Green, Blue, Orange or White would then be used in contrast with a particular back-tray combination to give a warm or hard illumination to suit. Colour changing RGB LED modules are also available.
LED face illuminated, built up 3D letters work by placing the LED modules internally on the inside of the back-tray facing towards the letter face.
The materials used for the face of illuminated letters is usually made from opal/coloured/clear acrylic or polycarbonate depending on the desired effect. Coloured LED's such as Red, Green, Blue, Orange or White would then be used in contrast with a particular back-tray combination to give the correct face illumination.
The face of the letter can have a translucent coloured vinyl or a customised printed vinyl applied. We can even print a face that appears a different colour in the day time than it does when illuminated.
Illuminated push through sign systems are manufactured by using CNC cutting technology, first we cut all the customers artwork out of the sign tray and then machine the edges with the corners notched out of the face material. The corners are then welded and dress depending on their application.
Once we have made the face we produce an aluminium back-tray that fits inside the back of the stencil cut sign tray or fret cut sign tray. We then use LED technology to internally light the face of the sign tray system, illuminating the push through part of the sign tray.
We use acrylic backers and push through which are stud welded and bonded into place inside the sign trays, the return depth of the sign tray is important here to allow the lighting technology distance to disburse the light emitted before it hits the acrylic backer or spotting or stripping can occur. We can also use LED light sheet technology to enable a slim return where needed to achieve an even spread of light on illuminated sign trays.
LED Light Sheets are built up from a combination of high output LEDs embedded within a 3D facet cut acrylic panel. This lightweight and stylish design is a simply stunning approach to creating an even illumination with only an 8mm profile.
Our LED Light sheets are a slim and slender light source offering a whole range of lighting opportunities. LED light sheets can be CNC cut to shape and supplied in cool white, warm white or colour changing RGB. Translucent vinyls can be applied to the face to create hundreds of colour options. LED Lightsheet can save you the initial outlay of the product in savings on energy bills over a short period of time. In today’s greener world people are moving towards the initial higher cost of LED technology giving them next to zero maintenance. LED lightsheet is also ideal for halo lighting small lettering.

Diameter of the bulbs range from 40mm to 60mm. These lamps can be fitted into open faced built-up letters or set in their own array and with 13 cabochon colours & 2 LED colours to choose from you can create 1000's of combinations.
Traditional ‘neon’ signs can be successfully fabricated by CNC profiling opal acrylic sheet into the desired shape of lettering or design.
The ‘tube-like’ effect of neon is beautifully recreated and internally lit with LED modules. This results in a very bright light in all colour - interchanging RBG illumination can also be achieved.
This style of illuminated sign can be safely installed internally or externally without the requirement for a separate ‘fireman’s switch’ to isolate the power. The running costs are hugely reduced and the lifespan is greatly increased when compared with traditional neon signs.
